    National FFA Foundation - Donor/Prospect Research Manager

    ·         What book are you currently reading? I’m just about to start reading The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut.

    ·         Favorite vacation spot? Right now anywhere warm and tropical would be nice.

    ·         Hobbies - I love baking and trying new recipes. I also practice yoga on a weekly basis.

    ·         An unusual/fun fact about you - When I was little, I wanted to be a ballerina. When I was 11 years old, I got to perform in the Nutcracker with the Indianapolis Ballet Theater. It was just a small part but very exciting for me at the time.

    Members of all levels of experience are encouraged to apply for the APRA-IN Kathy K. Wilson Scholarship Award this year. Applicants must be an APRA-IN member in good standing (paid their 2016 dues) and demonstrate a commitment to the profession of research through participation, volunteerism, mentee/mentorship or leadership. The award will be a stipend to be used for professional development at an APRA-IN conference.     We are excited to announce a new award that has been created to build recognition for APRA IN members within their own organizations, cultivate prestige amongst their APRA peers, and to develop credibility for advancement in their career. The award will recognize a member who has successfully lead a project within their organization in collaboration with other departments or organizations.

    The application process will require that you describe the problem or situation that you were facing within your organization. An explanation of how the problem or situation was resolved or improved, and the impact it had on the organization or the field of research is required. You should describe any collaboration that was done with other departments or organizations and the lessons learned from the project.

    This is a chance to share your success with other researchers faced with similar challenges. We hope you will consider nominating yourself or a peer who has lead a project. The winner will receive a certificate for display and free attendance to an APRA IN function in 2016. Please submit your application to Laura Hinkley, APRA Indiana awards committee member, at hinklla@earlham.edu.  Your application must be submitted by October 31.     The Midwest chapters (and anyone who just loves hanging with awesome people) are meeting up for a happy hour while we're in New Orleans. We will meet in the hotel lobby at 5:15 pm and walk over at 5:30 and will be at the 21st Amendment until 7pm. Come and hang out with people from our region!

    The APRA-IN Basic and Advanced Skills Workshop will be Thursday, August 27, 2015, at the Indiana University Foundation’s landmark Showalter House. Showalter House provides an engaging venue for new and seasoned prospect researchers to gain and to refresh skills to improve their professional abilities. Plan to learn about prospect management, data analytics, and researching medical professionals as well as several other aspects of prospect research.

    It will be a full day of learning from experts and networking with colleagues. Keep an eye out for more information on the website!
