2018 Apra Indiana Founders' Scholarship
(Application Deadline: March 30, 2018)

The Apra Indiana Founders' Scholarship covers the costs of any Apra-affiliated conference registration plus a one year membership with Apra International (if applicant is not already a member). In support of the Apra Indiana goal to promote professional growth, this scholarship is awarded to an Apra Indiana member based on financial need. Nominations for the award must be submitted by March 30, 2018 to be considered. 

Criteria:

  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
  • Applicants must work at least 50% of the time in prospect development and/or relationship management for a nonprofit organization in a non-consulting capacity.
  •  Applicant must be a member in good standing with Apra Indiana
  • Applicant must have been a member of Apra Indiana for at least one year
  • Winner will contribute article to the Apra Indiana newsletter
  • Scholarship must be used within one year of award
  •  Scholarship winners must wait three years before applying again.

How to Apply:

1. Complete the online application
2. Complete 500 word narrative and include the following information:

  • Plan for covering additional expenses
  • Supervisor approval/support
  • Detailed explanation of financial need
  • What local/regional professional development programs are available and what you have participated in
  • Reasons for attending conference and impact on work and organization
  • Any professional achievements, proven leadership and/or volunteer activity

3.. Submit a one-page resume.

The Kathy K. Wilson Scholarship
Application Deadline: September 28, 2018

Applicants for the Kathy K. Wilson scholarship must demonstrate a commitment to the profession of research for the field of development through leadership, mentoring, volunteerism and dedication. The award will be a stipend to be used for professional development, limited to use for Apra Indiana conferences.  The Apra Indiana Scholarship Award will be awarded at the discretion of the Apra Indiana board. The scholarship is named in honor of Kathy K. Wilson, former Apra Indiana president, and members of all levels of experience are encouraged to apply. The deadline to submit the application is September 28, 2018.


Criteria:

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a member of Apra Indiana.
  • Must be employed as a prospect researcher for a non-profit organization in a non-consulting capacity.
  • Must work more than 20% in the field of prospect research, as defined by the Apra International Body of Knowledge.
  • Must complete an application form (click here for the online application)

This scholarship will cover registration fees for one Apra Indiana event. You have the opportunity to choose from any of the following:

  • 2019 Apra Indiana Spring Conference
  • 2019 Apra Indiana Skills Workshop (Basic & Advanced), 
  • 2019 Annual Meeting

Apra Indiana Service Award
Nomination Deadline: September 28, 2018

The Apra Indiana Service Award was established in 1997 to recognize a member of the prospect research community who has demonstrated leadership, dedication, and commitment to the field. If you know of a current or previous member who has demonstrated these qualities, please click here to submit a nomination form. A group of individuals may complete the form.

    Apra Scholarship
    Nomination Deadline: April 2, 2018

    In support of the Apra goal to promote professional growth, Apra's Scholarship Award ensures accessibility to educational programming by awarding a scholarship to a prospect development professional based on financial need and professional merit. In review of applications, the selection committee considers professional achievements, proven leadership within and outside their organization, and volunteer participation with local/regional groups. Selection is weighted on both merit and financial need.

    The Apra Scholarship covers the costs of conference registration, accommodation (up to four nights) and travel expenses (not to exceed U.S. $1,000) plus a one-year membership with Apra International.

    Criteria:

    • Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
    • Applicants must work at least 50% of the time in prospect development and/or relationship management for an organization in a non-consulting capacity.
    • Scholarship winners must wait three years before applying again.

    Apra Distinguished Service Award
    Nomination Deadline: April 2, 2018

    Established in 1990, the Distinguished Service Award honors an individual who has enhanced both the prospect development profession and Apra through exceptional contributions beyond his/her daily paid work. The award takes into account professional competencies and personal competencies (contributions that facilitate learning and talents that are exceptional). Self-nominations are permitted.

    Criteria:

    • Apra membership in good standing at the time of nomination.
    • At least five years of experience in the field of prospect development.
    • Nominees cannot be employees of the award sponsor or current board members of Apra International.
    • Exhibits leadership in Apra International and/or an Apra chapter.
    • Anticipates trends and displays vision.
    • Contributes to the lifelong learning and knowledge of prospect development professionals.
    • Promotes the profession of advancement research to other organizations within the philanthropic community in order to facilitate understanding and ongoing dialogue.
    • Demonstrates a strong commitment to the Apra Code of Ethics.
    • Exhibits a personal/professional belief in philanthropy.

    A committee of Apra members will select one (1) Distinguished Service Award recipient.

    Apra Professional of the Year Award
    Nomination Deadline: April 2, 2018

    This award was established in 1999 and is open to all Apra members. Formerly known as the Researcher of the Year award, it recognizes an outstanding fundraising professional who has made a significant positive impact on his or her organization's success in fulfilling its mission. The award is intended to recognize the skills, talents and accomplishments of a member in our profession who has gone above and beyond the scope of their core duties and played a leadership role in their organization.

    The Apra Professional of the Year award recipient receives a full complimentary conference registration and accommodations at the conference hotel.

    Self-nominations are permitted. If nominating yourself, please include the name(s) of and contact information for your immediate supervisor(s).

    Criteria:

    • Be employed by a nonprofit organization registered with its national governing authority (if in the United States, a 501(c)(3).
    • Conducts prospect research and/or relationship management in his/her position at least 50% of the time.
    • Apra membership in good standing at the time of nomination.

    Judging Factors:

    • Developed or significantly enhanced a program at his/her organization directly impacting the organization’s ability to raise more money.
    • Demonstrates the ability to work as a team player.
    • Demonstrates a strong commitment to the Apra Code of Ethics.

    A committee of Apra members will select one (1) Apra Professional of the Year and the award will be presented at Prospect Development 2018. Representatives of any company sponsoring the award are not part of the selection committee, nor are they consulted for final selection of the recipient. Additionally, award nominees and employees of any organization at which an award nominee works, are ineligible to serve on the selection committee.

    Apra Margaret Fuhry Award
    Nomination Deadline: April 2, 2018

    Established in 1998, this award is given to an Apra member based on his or her leadership, mentorship, volunteerism and dedication to professional development. Apra's 2018 Margaret Fuhry Award grants a full conference scholarship, including registration, transportation and hotel accommodations. A committee of Apra members will select one (1) Apra Margaret Fuhry Award recipient and the award will be presented at Prospect Development 2018 in Pittsburgh, PA. 

    *Current Apra Awards Committee members and current and former Apra International Board Members are not eligible for this award; applicants must have volunteered within two years of the submission due date and be a current member of Apra International.
